The cracked mirror
Sundar Sarukkai, Gopal Guru
In the west it is sometimes hard to find out about non-western intellectual traditions since, although the work of non-western authors may be studied, it is generally interpreted through a western viewpoint. The exoticness of non-western ideas may make it hard to compare them with western ideas. Also there is often an idea that western ideas have priority, for instance Chanakya has been called "The Indian Machiavelli", rather than Machiavelli (who lived nearly two thousand years after Chanakya) being called "The Italian Chanakya". I'm hoping that this book will give an idea of how western and non-western intellectual traditions relate to each other starting from a non-western viewpoint.
